Since 1976, The Pittsburgh Group at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management has strived to help every client achieve their financial goals. As one of the longest standing wealth management teams in the firm, we have the experience and knowledge it takes to give you concise and conscientious advice when it comes to your investments. Our objective is to simplify your family’s financial plan and make your future as clear as possible. Our clients lead busy lives. Although they come from a variety of business and professional backgrounds, they are generally either trying to balance career goals with raising a family or preparing for retirement.Most of them have accumulated their wealth over time and are concerned about preserving it, growing it safely and passing it on to future generations. But they don’t have the time or desire to manage their investment strategies or consistently monitor their progress toward their goals.Our clients come to us because they have realized that they need help to organize and simplify their financial lives. A founding member of The Pittsburgh Group at Morgan Stanley, Alan Rank’s experience in family wealth planning has provided countless clients with a sense of confidence as they transition to the next phase of their lives. In addition to serving individual clients, he also focuses on the design and management of corporate retirement plans.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in economics, Alan joined the financial services industry in 1976, initially specializing in IRA rollovers. He was instrumental in aiding the employees of Weirton Steel in their purchase of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, the world’s largest ESOP at that time.
Alan started working with Denise Bogden, Financial Planning Specialist, in 1984, and quickly recognized the value of a team model in serving the wealth planning needs of our clients. Now grown to six members, The Pittsburgh Group continues to follow his lead in providing clear, concise and conscientious advice to our clients. Named to Morgan Stanley’s Chairman’s Council 20 times, Alan is currently a member of the Masters Club, recognizing him as one of the top Financial Advisors at the firm.
A life-long resident of South Fayette Township, he and his wife Carol recently relocated to a farm in the adjacent Cecil Township where they have four horses. They enjoy spending time with their two children and four grandchildren as well as anything involving the outdoors.

A Certified Financial Planner™ professional, Chuck Palmer’s biggest strength is his ability to understand what is most important to our clients and then put everything into perspective for them. He listens carefully and asks lots of questions to get beneath the surface and understand their psychology and the details of their needs and concerns. His goal is to be able to customize their financial plan to address specifically what they want to accomplish, and then let the plan drive the amount of risk taken in the portfolio.
Having begun his career in the Chicago area as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Chuck audited the financial statements of various public and private companies. His move to Morgan Stanley enabled him to use his people skills as well as his analytical experience to make a difference in people’s lives. In 2008, in order to live closer to relatives, he and his family relocated to western Pennsylvania, where he joined The Pittsburgh Group.
Chuck earned his B.S. in accounting from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University. He is an active member of the Indiana University Alumni Association, currently serving on its Executive Council as well as president of the Pittsburgh chapter. A native of Columbus, Ohio, and self-described “sports freak,” Chuck enjoys teaching sons Charlie and Ethan how to fly fish, golf and play baseball. All are avid Hoosier basketball and Ohio State football fans.

Sean O’Riordan understands that many professionals don’t have the time or desire to manage their financial lives on their own. His experience in the corporate world enables him to understand how they think and the challenges they face, particularly relating to business and career options, compensation, risk management and estate planning strategies. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Sean spent over 16 years in various sectors of the financial services industry, starting as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he audited financial statements of public and private companies in the consumer goods industry. He moved on to investment banking, participating as a deal team member on many public offerings and M&A transactions. Sean leveraged these experiences as he transitioned to asset management, working as an equity research analyst at a hedge fund in Chicago, and later as a vice president in the Turnaround and Restructuring division of AlixPartners, a global consulting firm. Sean earned his B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Michigan and his M.B.A. in finance and strategy from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Although a native of Troy, Michigan, and a Michigan grad, Sean fell in love with a Buckeye fan and he and his wife Cristin reside in Columbus, Ohio with their young son Hudson. As time permits, Sean enjoys fly-fishing, reading and golf, but he always makes time for Michigan football.

With a focus on individual retirement planning, Gail Woodward helps clients increase their confidence in their financial future by setting and managing realistic expectations. She meets with corporate retirement plan participants to analyze various factors including age, level of contribution, and risk tolerance to optimize their asset allocations and maximize their retirement savings.
After completing a wealth management internship at Merrill Lynch, Gail started as an intern at Morgan Stanley during her senior year of college. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in finance and marketing and a minor in economics before joining The Pittsburgh Group full time.
An enthusiastic world traveler, Gail participated in a study abroad program while in college, visiting ten countries across Europe and North Africa in twelve weeks and increasing her country list to 22. She also enjoys running half marathons, baking pies and spending time with her family and friends. Originally from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Gail currently resides in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

To help ensure that what our clients do connects with what they want to do, Randy Klaiber focuses on helping them understand the why and how of financial matters. With his strong understanding of risk management principles and careful attention to detail, he looks for what could happen in order to address potential risks before they happen. Randy works with our portfolio management group to develop, implement, and monitor investment strategies designed to help meet the unique investment needs of our clients. He is also charged with making sure our administrative procedures run smoothly.
A graduate of Penn State University with a degree in business logistics and international business, Randy joined The Pittsburgh Group in 2012 with over 10 years of broad experience in the financial services industry. As a commitment to continuing education, Randy received his Masters of Securities Analysis and Portfolio Management through Creighton University in 2015.
Randy grew up enjoying the outdoors and recently added archery to his many outdoor activities. A “car guy,” he likes to tinker and try to bring new life to his projects – with varying levels of success. Randy and his wife Sharon have a young daughter Pearl.
Martha Belchyk’s extensive experience, gained over 35 years in the financial services industry, provides unique insight and perspective into the daily administrative and operational support she provides to clients. After earning her degree in merchandising and retailing, Martha changed career paths when she accepted a position as a bookkeeper in a small regional investment firm in 1978. She joined The Pittsburgh Group in 2006 as a Senior Client Service Associate with Smith Barney.
