Our advisors hold various distinguished designations, including Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®), Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC®), Certified Wealth Strategist (CWS), Senior Portfolio Management Director and Portfolio Manager. They are members of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC), giving them ongoing continuing educational and networking opportunities among other financial industry leaders and professionals. The CIMA certification signifies that an individual has met initial and ongoing experience, ethical, education, and examination requirements for investment management consulting, including advanced investment management theory and application. To earn CIMA certification, candidates must: submit an application, pass a background check and have an acceptable regulatory history; pass an online Qualification Examination; complete an in-person or online executive education program at The Wharton School of Business - University of Pennsylvania; pass an online Certification Examination; and have an acceptable regulatory history as evidenced by FINRA Form U-4 or other regulatory requirements and have three years of financial services experience at the time of certification.

A fifth generation Rockport native, John is the founding partner of The Rockport Group. His first career was with his family’s three-generation seafood business. John began his second career in 1992 with Dean Witter, now Morgan Stanley. While at the firm, he has earned numerous distinctive titles and designations including Senior Vice President, Wealth Advisor, Senior Portfolio Management Director, Certified Wealth Strategist (CWS), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®). He also maintains the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies (FI360). John is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and on the board of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC). In 2012, John was awarded Five Star “Wealth Manager Award” (Texas Monthly).
John is active in his community and has served in leadership roles with The Aransas County ISD Education Foundation (founder), Boy Scouts of America South Texas Council-President and Executive Board, Rockport Rotary Club board, and The Margaret Sue Rust Foundation. He is a member and has served in various capacities at First Presbyterian Church, Odyssey Afterschool Enrichment Program, Young Life of Rockport, Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Rockport Art Association, Aransas County Historical Society, 100 Club of Aransas County, Texas A&M Kingsville Foundation, the Javelina Alumni Association, and the College of Business Dean’s Leadership Board.
In early 2011, John published “Taking The Tide,” a personal narrative that depicts the trials and tribulations of his family’s seafood business along with their ties to the rich history of Rockport. John shares the events and experiences that eventually led him on the path to becoming a leading financial advisor with Morgan Stanley.
John’s list of past honors includes, Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, Rotary Club Volunteer of the Year, The Education Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Javelina Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni (Texas A&M University-Kingsville), Academic All American (football), Eagle Scout and the Silver Beaver Award in Scouting. In September 2011, John was inducted into the Texas A&M Kingsville/Texas A&I “Javelina Athletics Hall of Fame.”
John and his wife Debbie live in Rockport, and they have two children and two grandchildren.

Michael is a partner in The Rockport Group at Morgan Stanley, providing comprehensive wealth management advice to their high net worth individuals and foundation clientele. He began his career with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter (now Morgan Stanley) in February 2000. He is licensed by the National Association of Securities Dealers as a General Securities Representative. He is also a Registered Investment Advisor Representative and is licensed with the State of Texas Insurance Department to offer group, life, health, and variable annuity and insurance solutions. In addition, he has earned several distinctive titles including Senior Investment Management Consultant, Senior Portfolio Manager, Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) conducted jointly by Morgan Stanley and The Wharton School of Business, a leading finance school in the country, and Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC). Michael is also a member of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC) and the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).
Michael holds a BBA with emphasis in finance from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. Michael is a long-time resident of South Texas, where he is involved in numerous community organizations. He is an active member with his property homeowners association, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, youth sports and the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce. Michael enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and woodworking. He and his wife Analisa have four children, Michael, Christopher, Paige and Matthew.

Pat began her career in the wealth management industry in 1979, and she has excelled as a highly experienced and recognized professional. She started her career in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was employed with the Robinson-Humphrey Company / Salomon Smith Barney as a senior registered sales assistant. She moved to Texas in 1995 and joined Morgan Stanley that same year.
As a Senior Registered Associate on The Rockport Group team, Pat is responsible for the team’s overall administrative and operational functions as well implementing systems that focus on providing excellence in client service and operations. She plays a key role in client communications, including their welcome and on-boarding process, day-to-day account transactions and problem solving activities. Additionally, she is the direct interface for the team with Morgan Stanley’s local, regional and national client service, operational, training and administrative departments.
Pat is active in her community and supports a number of local organizations: Rockport Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Aransas County ISD Education Foundation, Rockport Rotary Club, Odyssey Afterschool Enrichment Program, and the Rockport Art Association.
Pat and her husband Van have one son, Michael. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include walking, running and reading.
