Estate Planning as a Family
Rob is a Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley, focusing on institutions and High Net Worth families. He is a co-Portfolio Manager for the team’s U.S. Core Equity and Dividend Plus strategies, and oversees the team’s asset allocation strategy. Rob draws on almost two decades of experience in asset management to create and implement highly customized investment portfolios for his clients.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Rob was an Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. While at J.P. Morgan, he managed the Dallas Private Bank’s investment and trading desk and was a member of the Portfolio Construction Committee, which is responsible for making strategic and tactical implementation decisions for private banking client’s discretionary portfolios.
Prior to and during his work in the financial industry Rob served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Infantry and Intelligence Officer where he attained the rank of Major. During his tenure in the Marine Corps, Rob served combat tours of duty throughout the Middle East and is a highly decorated combat veteran.
Rob is active in the community and has served on various not-for-profit boards in senior leadership positions. He served as the Chairman of the Board for the Arthritis Foundation, South Texas Region and as an Executive Committee member for the Warrior Benefit, a not-for-profit organization which supports wounded combat veterans. Rob is currently a Board Member for McKinney Education Foundation, which helps provide scholarships for the students of McKinney ISD.
Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University and currently resides in McKinney, Texas with his wife Andrea and their daughter. Rob and his family are very involved in the equestrian sport of Hunter/Jumper in which his daughter competes.

Matthew Smith is a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. Matthew works with high net worth families to create and implement strategies that include investment management, estate planning strategies, and cash management.
Matthew was previously a Managing Director at the J.P. Morgan Private Bank where he most recently supervised a team of bankers, associates, and analysts that focused on wealthy individuals who owned and operated their own privately held businesses. From 2014 to 2016, Matthew was Market Manager for J.P. Morgan’s High Net Worth Market in Dallas.
Prior to his role as Market Manager in Dallas, Matthew spent 19 years in Houston. His experience there included roles in the commercial banking units at Wells Fargo and Chase Bank. From 1998 to 2004 he was the Development Director for Tondu Corporation, a privately held holding company involved in power generation, materials science and commodities.
Matthew received a B.S. in Business Administration from Trinity University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. Personally, Matthew enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and four daughters.

Jon Piorkowski is a Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley, focusing on high net worth families with sophisticated investment and wealth transfer needs. He is a co-Portfolio Manager for the team’s U.S. equity strategies and oversees our hedging program.
Jon was formerly an Investment Specialist at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Dallas. He customized investment solutions in both discretionary and non-discretionary capacities for high net worth individuals, families and foundations. He began his career with J.P. Morgan as an analyst in Houston, TX where he specialized in portfolio analytics that modeled multi asset class projections.
Jon received a B.B.A. from Baylor University and he and his wife currently reside in Dallas, TX. Jon’s hobbies include exercise, church and family.

Jonathan Bassham is a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley, the division of Morgan Stanley with a special focus on affluent families and institutions. Working primarily with business owners and executives, Jonathan helps clients navigate the complexities of managing significant wealth. Beginning in investment strategy, Jonathan and his team may touch every aspect of his clients’ financial lives, including generational wealth transfer, cash management and lending solutions, philanthropy and family governance.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Jonathan was a Vice President at the J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Dallas, Texas. While at J.P. Morgan, he served clients in Texas and Louisiana. Jonathan started his career in wealth management at AXA Advisors in Austin, Texas where he was an investment advisor and specialized in advising small business owners.
Jonathan serves on the board of Dallas CASA, a non-profit organization that advocates for the best interest of abused and neglected children in protective care, to help them find safe, permanent homes. He also serves on the Host Committee for Great Investors' Best Ideas, a non-profit organization that supports the Vickery Meadow Youth Foundation and the Michael J Fox Foundation.
Jonathan graduated from Baylor University with a B.B.A in Finance. In addition, he holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses. He enjoys cycling, hunting and boating. Jonathan and his wife, Christine, live in Dallas with their two children.

Allison Sterling is a Consulting Group Analyst at Morgan Stanley. She assists in overall business development of clientele by developing customized financial plans/asset allocation proposals and designing tailored reporting for new and existing clients. She is also responsible for performance measurement and manager due diligence. Allison holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation.
Allison began her career as analyst at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in 2014. She received her B.A. in Finance and Accounting from Texas Christian University. Allison enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
April Cervantes is a Senior Client Service Associate at Morgan Stanley. She started her career in Operations at Smith Barney in 2005. In her role, she works to maintain the highest levels of service to clients. She is passionate about working on behalf of clients and strives to ensure they have the best experience possible. April is an excellent communicator and works diligently to meet all client requests.
She and her husband currently reside in Ennis with their two sons. In her spare time she loves attending her son’s baseball games, reading and playing tennis.
