Melanie focuses on working with clients to create long term personalized financial plans in addition to overseeing risk management and asset protection strategies.
Melanie is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and has spent her career serving high net worth investors and their families. As a CFP®, Melanie assists families through difficult transitions like divorce and death, as well as successful transitions into retirement, business succession and tax efficient generational wealth transfer. Melanie and The RHO Group at Morgan Stanley also work with Employee Benefit Trusts, Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts, as well as Special Needs Trusts. She graduated from Campbell University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a certificate in Trust Management. In 1991, she received a MBA from Mount Saint Mary’s University.
In her spare time, Melanie enjoys mentoring other young women and supporting her favorite charities. She currently serves on the Board of CAM Raleigh and is a member of Raleigh Professional Women's Forum and the Daughters of the American Revolution. A North Carolina native, Melanie resides in Clayton, NC with her husband, daughters and their rescue hound dogs.

Joel focuses on clients’ investment assets. Specifically, he drives in-depth analyses of market trends in equity, fixed income, and alternative asset classes that lead to portfolio construction.
Joel is a Certified Financial Planner™, professional and has spent over 25 years helping high net worth investors, their families and their businesses with Morgan Stanley. Prior to joining Dean Witter in 1992, Joel worked as a systems analyst with Andersen Consulting in Charlotte, NC. In 1989, Joel graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics.
When he is not at work, Joel enjoys attending football games for his son and college events with his daughter at UNC. Joel resides in Cary, NC with his wife, Angie, and their son and daughter.

Tim’s role within The RHO Group at Morgan Stanley is to work with individuals and families to help them achieve their financial goals through financial planning and prudent asset management across multiple generations.
Tim is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and has spent over 18 years serving institutions, high net worth investors, their families and their businesses with Morgan Stanley. Prior to Morgan Stanley in 1999, Tim served as branch manager, small business lender and retail banker for a regional North Carolina bank. In 1993, Tim graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Finance.
With three elementary and middle school age sons, Tim’ time outside work is filled by attending the numerous sports, musical and school events of his elementary and middle school age sons. Tim resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife, Catherine, their 3 sons and their family dog, Theo.

As a Financial Advisor, Michael’s role with The RHO Group at Morgan Stanley is to lead financial strategy consultation for our clients. Michael uses his 13 years of industry experience to screen and monitor investments that can help meet each client’s specific needs, as well as analyzing macroeconomic trends. He is responsible for trading the team’s investment portfolios and he seeks to maximize the effectiveness of all trades executed in each client’s accounts. An integral part of The RHO Group team, Michael helps design custom portfolios for clients and performs due diligence on investment managers.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, with concentrations in Marketing and Finance from NC State University. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2011. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, camping, fishing and surfing. He is a charter member and has served as President, Foundation Chair, and Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Raleigh Midtown. A native of Warsaw, NC, Michael resides in Raleigh.

Tammy is a Senior Client Service Associate who has been with Morgan Stanley since 2001. Prior to Morgan Stanley Tammy worked as an office manager with a real estate appraisal firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. Before moving to North Carolina, Tammy worked for the same retailer for 17 years in Indiana.
Tammy is a dedicated customer care representative who takes great pride in delivering exceptional customer service to her clients. Tammy’s empathy and compassion about her job is a big part of how she fosters her client relationships with their financial needs. Her practical approach and in-depth knowledge of the company’s operational systems allows her to assist her client’s with their financial objectives. Tammy makes sure that new customers are welcomed with a high-quality service level and customer satisfaction.
Tammy was born and raised in Indiana, moving to North Carolina in 2000. She currently resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina with her husband Kevin Hackman, with whom she has been married to for over 24 years. Tammy enjoys spending time with her family and being involved with her community, supporting local children’s charities and blind foundation organizations. Her hobbies include anything with a creative outlet from scrapbooking, creative writing, floral design, home decorating to gardening and being outdoors.
